Making and designing of my Music magazine

In this part of my work i had to initially make a overall synopsis of what i wanted my music magazine to be like as a description and then had to write up all the text i wanted included in my magazine. A questionnaire had to be designed so that i could see what people like and don't like and their opinions, this was to give me the best possible end product.
Like my preliminary task i had to make drafts of what i was going on to make in a proffessional programme, again i used photoshop. As i had already used this on my preliminary task i was a little better at using it. It took me a long time to place my different text in positions that worked. Again with this task i had to search the ABC website to find more exciting texts that would better suite my style of magazine.

For my double page spread of my music magazine i had to use a different programme, InDesign. This programme was extremely hard to get the hang of especially as a had just got used to using Photoshop. I used the ABC website to download fonts, similar to what i downloaded for my front cover. As this programme did not have layers like photoshop it made it very hard to delete certain parts of my page which i did not like. Finally at the end of this i produced a A3 page of pictures from my music magazine which i had not used on my work.

My making and designing of my school magazine

As a preliminary task we had to create a school magazine front page. So initially we had to make a draft of what we wanted this to look like and what it would include. We also made a draft of the double page spread of our school magazine, but we were not going on to make this.
After i designed my front cover i begun to then go onto making the real copy on photoshop. This was my first time using photoshop so i found it very hard and confusing at first. I used a txt called Green Peace from the dafont.com website. I had to create different layers in order to give my work a background.

I gave my text effects and gave it drop shadows as this gave the words more depth. I also cropped my main picture to the required size that i needed it to be on my page.

What I have done in my AS media planning folder

The first thing that I worked on to include in my media planning folder was a Brainstorm of the different types of magazines available and what genre's they fell under. I then went on to do an analysis of a music magazines front cover, in this I analysed the colour, theme, genre, pictures used, symbols and much more. We then went on to analyse a middle page spread of the same magazine, commenting on the same areas as we did the front cover. This would all help towards our final task of creating our own music magazine.

Next we made a storyboard of pictures that showed a 'Day in the life of the Leigh' which showed that every picture tells a story. We then analysed every picture talking about the brightness, the natural light used, whether the picture was set in frames, the sharpness, focus and overall effectivness of the picture.

Using the ABC website we found two popular music magazines we then went onto their webiste and analysed what the two had to offer. Also commenting on colours and similarites.
